August 2026

A sepia-toned botanical photograph of a flowering plant with pale blossoms and dark leaves against a warm brown background.

Including the thinking of Donald Winnicott and Martha Beck, our letter seeks to explain (and normalise) the likely types of anxiety we tend to carry around with us. Having a clearer understanding of what's going on with our own versions of each is the foundation for the letter to then discuss healthy v unhealthy forms of anxiety and methods to address the unhealthy ones.

To support that, we include a card detailing the simple, but highly effective 'box breathing' exercise, with a version of Covey's Circle on the reverse.

A close-up graphic of a square with the word 'calm' in blue on a pale blue-to-white gradient face. The top edge shows numbered tabs 2, 3, 4, and the right edge shows numbered tabs 1, 2, 3, with 'hold' printed at the top right.

One of our art postcards features work by Tina Modotti, whose own life we feel, while arguably exciting, would induce a state of almost permanent anxiety in most people, while the beautifully nuanced and quieter work of Vilhelm Hammershøi is on the other.

Our Invitation to Ponder poses helpful questions, including ones which ask us to consider what the differences would be in our life with an absence of anxiety in it.
